Nick Zinner has received global acclaim as part of New York indie rock royalty Yeah Yeah Yeahs, picking up four Grammy nominations among countless other accolades over four albums and fifteen years as a band.
But away from the limelight Nick is constantly creative, collaborating with TV On The Radio, The Horrors, Bright Eyes, Head Wound City, Santigold, Laurence Rothman, and Scarlett Johansson amongst others as well as producing remixes for the likes of Depeche Mode, Grinderman and Broken Bells.
Nick has been a consistent member of the Africa Express project setup and run by Blur frontman Damon Albarn to showcase African talent, playing on 2014’s ‘Africa Express presents: Maison Des Jeunes’ and ‘African Express presents: Terry Riley’s In C Mali’.
It was during the making of ‘…Maison Des Jeunes’, that Zinner met young Malian band, Songhoy Blues, producing and playing on their contribution to the album, ‘Soubour’. He went on to produce the band’s debut album ‘Music in Exile’ released through Transgressive Records & Atlantic Records in 2015 to critical acclaim.
Elsewhere, Nick composed the orchestral piece ’41 strings’, which has been performed in New York, Sydney Opera House and London’s Royal Festival Hall and is currently featured as the opening music for the HBO show ‘Vice’. He has produced ‘Pink Palms’ by The Bots along with Justin Warfield and Santigold‘s contribution to the Hunger Games: Catching Fire Soundtrack ‘Shooting Arrows At The Sky’, as well as the upcoming LP from Deap Valley.
Soundtrack work includes Where the Wild Things Are, Mad Max:Fury Road, Spike Jonze short, I’m Here, and upcoming documentary They Will Have to Kill Us First.
