Ian Grimble :: Biography

Ian is one of the most admired 'sound sculptors' in Britain. A long-term working partner of the legendary Mike Hedges (on many projects from Siouxsie & The Banshees, The Beautiful South, Marc Almond, Everything But The Girl to Travis, Texas & The Manic Street Preachers), from whom he absorbed an enormous amount of influence, Ian has gone on to co-produce several projects with Hedges.

He is now also doing his own productions in tandem with specialising in 'Radio Mixes'. With over 35 top 30 singles to his credit, Ian is firmly established at the pinnacle of his craft.

Ian recorded and mixed six hit singles and two Brit Award winning albums for the Manic Street Preachers, he recorded and mixed McAlmont & Butler's ground breaking hits, four hit singles for Geneva, the Texas hit singles 'Halo' and 'Insane' as well as tracks on their huge 'White On Blonde' album. He co-produced the Travis hit singles 'Why Does It Always Rain' & 'Turn' and tracks on their 7 x platinum Brit winning 'The Man Who' album and also hits for Puressence, The Wannadies and The Audience. He produced a hit single for Beth Orton, mixed hit singles for Carleen Anderson, St.Etienne and Morcheeba and produced Irish legends Aslan's recent No 1 album.

Ian, with his own impressive studio, has also managed to accumulate some much sought after equipment from the infamous Abbey Road Studios, including an EMI TG Recording Console and 16 track Studer.
