During a career spanning 8 years, James has achieved a variety of successes including a number 1 single, 3 top 10 albums and NME Single of the Week. He now boasts a world class, state-of-the-art production and mix studio, Studio 27a.
It was James's experiences in his own band as a teenager, which led him to realise a true love of recording and mixing songs. This passion for music led him to enrol on a musical engineering course at the prestigious Institute for Performing Arts, in the vibrant cultural city of Liverpool.
In 2004, having knocked on the door of the city's Motor Museum Studio, Mike Crossey invited James to become his studio assistant and immediately started working with some of today's most recognised bands. During studio down-time, James would independently work with bands such as The Wombats to take his first steps to his own music production and mixing It was a combination of these invaluable experiences that has allowed James to develop his technical skill and for his own musicality to emerge.
After emerging as a confident engineer, James decided to embark on a new challenge and move to London. Here, he began engineering for songwriter Sacha Skarbek, which lead to further opportunities to work with recognised artists such as Duffy, Natalie Imbruglia and Melanie Blatt. James also engineered for songwriter Rick Knowles, working on songs for the likes of Cee-Lo Green and James Blunt.

In 2007, James joined the Stephen Budd Management roster as a producer and mixer. This partnership led to successful collaborations including debut mixes for Cajun Dance Party, recognised by NME as their Single of the Week. He led the production and mixing of Simon Webbe's 'Ride The Storm' single which became the credit soundtrack to 20th Century Fox movie 'Fantastic 4 - Rise of the Silver Surfer'. James later went on to have success with Netherlands rock band Di-Rect, with a number 1 single plus two top 5 albums in Holland.
Further successes were to follow with mixes for Mercury Record signing, Wonderland, reaching the top 10 in the UK album chart. He has mixed Seye Adeleken's EP 'White Noise', mixed acoustic tracks for Rae Morris and has just completed work on Alexz Johnson's EP 'Skipping Stone'.
