Mark Picchiotti :: Biography

Mark's astute DJing credo has always been a journey through garage, disco filters, funk, hard-house, progressive house and deep trance. This is also a journey which takes him to thousands of people all over the globe and which sees him being part of the elite US crew whom Billboard taps to report his own personal Top 25 for the Billboard Dance Chart.

On the production front, and since the debut of his vanguard act, The Absolute, Mark has enjoyed a deluge of accolades from what might otherwise be considered a jaded UK press. BBC Radio 1's Pete Tong, a big Picchiotti supporter, repeatedly chose the first two Absolute singles as his coveted "Essential Tune". Not surprisingly, those singles continued on to reach No.1 on virtually every industry chart and all three Absolute singles became Top 40 hits.

His songwriting and production skills are also attracting big named artists such as Kylie who clearly liked the results so much of his first production, "Butterfly" from her "Light Years" album (UK platinum & 1M+ global sales) that she requested Mark to produce, write and deliver another gem, "Give It To Me" for her multi-platinum "Fever" album. Other requests have recently come in from artists such as Tina Turner, Ricky Martin, Pet Shop Boys and Dance Diva Crystal Waters.

Picchiotti's own label BLUEPLATE Records, has already established itself with the first two Picchiotti produced tracks, Basstoy's hit "Runnin'" and Sandstorm's "The Return of Nothing" seeing major coverage in Ibiza, being licensed to numerous compilations and obtaining UK top 20 chart success and major radio airplay.

Mark's remix discography reads like a who's who of international pop superstardom including Madonna, Mariah Carey, Michael Jackson, Jamiroquai, Missy Elliot, Mary J. Blige, and Rob Thomas. Yet Mark has been just as deft and successful at working his magic for artists such as Jungle Brothers, Prodigy, LMC, Club 69, and Lords of Acid, to name just a few.

He has spent the last year in heavy remix mode with remixes for artists such as Rob Thomas, Missy Elliot, New Order and LMC and begins the new year writing and producing with his stable of existing acts The Absolute, Basstoy and Streetlife.
