Rainmakers :: Biography

Production duo Jamie Maher and Fayney also known as 'Rainmaker' are producers with their fingers on the pulse in many different genres of music.

Fayney, a former band member and producer of the highly successful band Roachford, began his career working with "The Clash". He then co-founded Roachford, co-wrote and produced their debut album and had chart success with a Top Ten album in America and a best selling album in England for six months.

Jamie after playing in bands and studios, ran away with the circus (literally the Moscow State Circus) in his late teens and ended up with Michael Jackson on tour (an even bigger circus). Learning digital recording at Metropolis Studios, then freelancing in production and programming, Jamie played guitar for various artists, including The Artful Dodger and Meone, in between art-directing videos. He then set up BFD studios and formed the Rainmaker production team with Fayney.

With their bigger and newly furnished 5.1 mix studio 'Big Fucking Digital', they are already making steps into different fields of the creative industry. Recent work ranges includes production with multi-platinum selling artists Joss Stone, Jeff Beck, Courtney Pine, Elton John, Maxi Priest and the pair have also worked with Bob Marley, Tina Turner, New Order and Ash during their careers. They have an ability to adapt to an artist, find common ground and understand their direction.

Not only do they have a niche for producing, they also write, mix and programme. In the past they have worked with The Clash and the All Saints on productio and mixed tracks for Ash, Maxi Priest and Jazz Jamaica.

Last year they co-wrote the winning Eurovision song 'Wild Dances' for Ruslana and wrote and produced 2 tracks on her new album.

They have provided scores for numerous Channel 4 documentaries and also written scores for the British film "Circus" starring award-winning comedian Eddie Izzard. Charlotte Church's film debut "I'll Be There" of was also a project they scored for. The next step from here is to pursue all their creative avenues and forge relationships and enjoy the process as much as possible.

The duo are currently close to completing the homegrown Rainmaker album, having worked with a range of female vocalists including Cathy Battistessa, Sherena Dugani, Vedis and Bird. Guest musicians include Ian Dent (EMF), Steve and Pete Lewinson (Simply Red, Massive Attack, etc) and Toby Baker (Madonna).
