/ Producer / Mixer
Stephen's name has been predominant for many years across both electronic dance music and guitar-based music, helming records for artists including New Order, Pet Shop Boys, Blur, James, Manic Street Preachers and Orchestral Manoeuvres in the Dark. Starting out as a guitarist / keyboard player, Stephen soon progressed to production and his work with Malcolm McLaren, OMD and the Pet Shop Boys (for whom he produced "Please", "West End Girls", "Opportunites (Let's Make Lots of Money)" and "Suburbia") heralded his real breakthrough. His first pairing with New Order followed a year later with "True Faith".
The success of Erasure's 1988 album "The Innocents" confirmed Stephen's major league status. He continued scoring hits like "What Have I Done to Deserve This?" and "It's a Sin" with the Pet Shop Boys, whilst also reuniting with New Order.
During the 1990s in the wake of the rise of grunge, Stephen moved more into guitar-based music, working with artists ranging from James, Blur, Siouxsie and the Banshees and Manic Street Preachers through to Dubstar, Afro Celt Soundsystem and Stereophonics. Stephen's recent work includes Assassins, Peter Gabriel's forthcoming album, Letrix, The Modern and The Cinematics.
He is based in Rye, East Sussex and has his own production and mixing studio.
