Steve Lyon
Producer
/ Mixer
Steve started his career in the late eighties as an engineer under Rolling Stones / The Who producer Glyn Johns. Working with Glyn, Steve learnt the importance of having a direct approach to recording, and forming a great relationship with the band. The "live element" of recording is often the backbone of band recordings for him still, even though a lot may be replaced at a later date, he believes the excitement of the "first take" is never lost somehow. Steve has a talent in making himself a part of the creative process and enjoys overseeing the general sound sculpture of a record.
His early career saw him working at prestigious studios such as The Townhouse, Manor Studios, Church Studios & George Martin's own Air Studios where he worked with Paul McCartney, The Wedding Present, Annie Lennox, Dave Stewart, Suzanne Vega and of course Depeche Mode. He then ended up working with Depeche for 6 years aswell as working on Alan Wilder's solo material and teaming up with The Cure.
More recently he was brought in by Italian superstar, Laura Pausini to mix and record a number of records for her album entitled, "Primavera in Anticipo" (Warners). Steve's mixing work on the album has now been nominated for 2 Latin Grammy's to include "Record Of The Year 2008" for the song "En Cambio No" aswell as "Best Female Pop Vocal Album 2008".
2009 has seen Steve set up his own 2000 square foot production studio at the wonderfully secluded, Platts Eyott island on the river Thames near Hampton Court. Besides working with major artists, he hopes this new facility will offer young talented bands and artists the opportunity to work with him on their demos and first albums.
