Tore Johansson :: Biography

Having recently moved back from the UK to his native Sweden, legendary Cardigans producer Tore Johansson is now based in Malmo (a short drive across the bridge from Copenhagen in Denmark). Tore produced the debut album for Franz Ferdinand - "the band that will change your life in 2004" according to the NME, released in February 2004. He produced the singles "Darts of Pleasure", "Take Me Out", "The Dark Of The Matinée" and "Michael".

Since he recorded The Cardigans' debut album in 1994 Tore has gone on to produce five albums for them and their hits including "Erase/Rewind", "My Favourite Game" and "Love Fool". He has also produced tracks for a wide range of artists including Suede, Tom Jones, St Etienne, Melanie C, Atlas (Virgin), Sophie Ellis-Bextor and Nina Persson's spin-off project A Camp and is also a prolific songwriter, writing with many of these artists.

Tore specialises in working with classic Seventies equipment recorded directly into Pro-Tools and has built a writing suite and production studio in his home. He has a strong background in songwriting, song development and arrangement with the artists he has worked with.
