Tommaso Colliva is a Grammy Winning, Mercury nominated producer, engineer, mix engineer and remix artist. Over his career to date he has worked with Muse, Franz Ferdinand, Phoenix, Greg Dulli, Mark Lanegan, Mutt Lange, Arto Lindsay, Butch Vig, Rich Costey, Spike Stent, John Parish and Afterhours amongst many others.
Starting his career as an assistant at Officine Meccaniche, the world-famous studio in Milan, Tommaso worked his way quickly up to chief engineer, working on recordings for Erykah Badu, Shania Twain, Michael Nyman and Manu Chao along the way.
In 2005, Tommaso met Muse during the recording of their breakthrough record ‘Black Holes & Revelations’ when they recorded strings and overdubs at Officine Meccaniche. The pairing clicked and Colliva has become a long-term collaborator and friend, his role progressing from engineer and additional production to mixing two tracks from Grammy nominated album ‘The 2nd Law’ and co-producing latest release ‘Drones’ which won ‘Best Rock Album’ at the 2016 Grammy Awards.
Colliva also has a long-standing relationship with Italian rock veterans, Afterhours. Initially engineering 2005’s ‘Ballads for Little Hyenas’, produced by Greg Dulli of Afghan Wigs and released worldwide by One Little Indian, Tommaso then produced following two Afterhours‘ albums ‘I Milanesi Ammazzano il Sabato’ (2010) and ‘Padania’ (2013) both of which charted at #2 in the Italian Album Chart. ‘Padania’ also won the three most important ‘Album of the Year’ awards in Italy: MEI, M&D and Tenco.
He founded and produces Italian cult retro-funk outfit, Calibro 35, who have released 5 studios albums to date and been sampled by Dr Dre, Jay Z and Child Of Lov amongst others.
Tomasso has won Producer of the Year awards from several notable Italian organisations including at MEI in 2012 and at MarteAwards in 2011.
