Biography
Shuta Shinoda is a Japanese Record Producer, Mixer, and Engineer renowned for his distinctive analog-driven sound that has become a cornerstone of London’s music scene. Based at North London’s legendary RAK Studios, Shuta blends the warmth of tape recording—using his Studer A80 2” machine—with cutting-edge production techniques.
After training at SAE Institute London and starting his career as a tape op in Tokyo, Shuta honed his craft at Hackney Road Studios before moving on to work independently across major projects. His credits include collaborations with Hot Chip, Alexis Taylor, Spiritualized, Daughter, GhostPoet, Anna Meredith, Jehnny Beth, Lawrence (Felt, Denim), and Baio (Vampire Weekend), alongside releases for leading labels including Universal, Warner, Sony, Domino, Warp, 4AD, PIAS, and Cherry Red.
Shuta’s work has shaped multiple Mercury Prize-winning albums, including GhostPoet’s Shedding Skin (2015) and Anna Meredith’s FIBS (2020), as well as several SAY Award winners such as Meredith’s Varmints (2016) and Babe’s Tell & Kiss (2018). His productions have also appeared on the UK Album of the Year long-list (2021).
A recipient of the MPG Breakthrough Engineer of the Year award (2021), Shuta continues to gain industry recognition, earning a nomination for MPG Breakthrough Producer of the Year in 2025.
