Huey Morgan

Biography

Huey Morgan is a multifaceted artist, who has been recording and producing music since the age of 13.  Best known as the frontman of the genre-blending band Fun Lovin’ Criminals, where he showcased his talents as a songwriter, guitarist and vocalist.  Formed in the mid-1990s, the Fun Lovin’ Criminals gained fame for their eclectic sound, fusing elements of hip-hop, rock, funk, and jazz. As the key creative force, Morgan was instrumental in crafting the band’s distinct style and writing nearly all of their hit songs, including tracks from albums like Come Find Yourself and 100% Colombian. His lyrical themes often explored urban life, crime, and humor, set against catchy, groove-laden backdrops.

Beyond his work with Fun Lovin’ Criminals, Morgan also ventured into solo projects, most notably with Huey and the New Yorkers. This project allowed him to explore a more personal, roots-oriented sound, drawing from rock, folk, and Americana influences. The music reflected a more introspective side of Morgan’s artistry, contrasting with the urban swagger of his earlier band work and showcased his debut solo production and writing skills.

In addition to his own musical ventures, Morgan is a producer and co-writer recently working with the likes of Brighton-based band The Phantom Runners, Lyza, (daughter of The Clash’s Joe Strummer) and with several more artists  who have releases forthcoming. These collaborations highlight Morgan’s versatility and ability to work across a wide range of musical genres further cementing his reputation as a dynamic and influential figure in the music industry.

He is keen to co-write and produce new and up and coming talent.
