Biography
Icelandic composer and producer Valgeir Sigurðsson traverses musical boundaries, exemplifying a commitment to pushing creative borders. He has curated a divers portfolio that seamlessly spans a multitude of genres, showcasing his mastery in crafting music for film, television, and a spectrum of mediums. His proficiency extends across music for electronics, orchestras, theatre, contemporary dance, and gaming.
With a rich repertoire including four solo albums, Valgeir’s most recent, “DISSONANCE,” garnered him the Album of The Year accolade at the Iceland Music Awards.
Valgeir co-founded the Bedroom Community label in 2006 alongside friends and fellow composers Nico Muhly and Ben Frost. At Greenhouse Recording Studios in Reykjavík, the vibrant creative hub he established in 1997, Valgeir not only produced the majority of the label’s releases but also made significant contributions to over 100 recordings for acclaimed artists, including Björk, Feist, Bonnie ‘Prince’ Billy, Ane Brun, Damon Albarn, Anohni, and CocoRosie.
